La fata italiana

The Italian Fairy is a series of “self-contained” music video clips that teach the Italian language to children all over the world, within the age range of 2 to 6 years. It is a suitable entertainment program for both children and families alike.

An “edutainment” (educational entertainment) series which maintains an educational and cultural background, it exposes children all over the world to the Italian language through brief, 3 minute segments of music video clips which comprise of 52 different subjects (alphabet, numbers, colors, home, city, transportation, food, etc).

Each themed song contains original text and music performed by the show’s host, who appears as a fairy. Each Italian word that is sung has a subtitle and is followed by its corresponding image. The Fairy sings, dances, mimes and interacts with all the elements present in the video.

The Italian Fairy was conceived two years ago in NYC, when it was made apparent that foreign children were responding strongly to understanding Italian words through topical songs.

The creative team behind The Italian Fairy is located in NYC and is supported by Italian and Italian-American specialized consultants, including Dr. Maria Palandra PhD, Superintendent, and Members of the Board of Education of the “Elmont Union Free School District,” Elmont, NY, Dr. Jon Weatherford Stansell of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Ms. Karin Kavelin Jones, Palm Desert, California.

The Italian Fairy is Simona Rodano. As an experienced singer, actress and songwriter, she has appeared on television and in theater in Italy, Europe and in the United States.
